SWISS WEDDING IN SÖRENBERG, SWITZERLAND
SÖRENBERG, SWITZERLAND
MAY 2024

THE COUPLE
Like many couples planning a wedding in 2020, Erika and Gabriel were forced to postpone their celebration. But a few years later—now with two beautiful children and a new home—they were finally ready to say “I do.” Nestled in a charming chalet in the Swiss Alps, their Swiss wedding unfolded in the most breathtaking way. Surrounded by loved ones and framed by the timeless beauty of the mountains, their Switzerland wedding became the intimate Alpine celebration they had always dreamed of.
The Venue
Perched high in the heart of the Swiss Alps, Berggasthaus Salwideli is a quintessential Switzerland chalet and an exceptional venue for a Swiss wedding. Surrounded by panoramic mountain views, the property features a charming chapel, an expansive ballroom, and a warm, inviting restaurant. A beloved Alpine stop known for its breathtaking scenery, it offered the perfect setting for our couple’s wedding in the Swiss Alps—a celebration wrapped in the chalet’s cozy yet refined ambiance, with nature’s grandeur unfolding in every direction.

First Look in the mountains
Honoring beloved Swiss wedding traditions while still embracing a moment of their own, the couple chose to forgo traditional getting-ready photos and instead share a private First Look in one of their favorite places—Sörenberg. A cherished destination for hiking and skiing, this idyllic corner of the Swiss Alps offered the perfect backdrop for their intimate moment. As Gabriel waited quietly in the crisp spring air, his bride-to-be arrived with a radiant mix of smiles and tears. Their embrace, framed by the tranquility of the mountains, became a heartfelt prelude to their wedding in the Swiss Alps, capturing the beauty of anticipation, love, and a long-awaited beginning within the charm of their Switzerland chalet celebration.

After their emotional First Look, the couple moved seamlessly into their wedding couple portraits, guided with ease by their photographer. The session unfolded into a beautiful blend of timeless candids and refined, editorial moments—each frame capturing the effortless connection between them. Lost in their own world, they embodied everything a Swiss wedding celebration evokes: romance, elegance, and an unspoken excitement for the day to come. With eyes only for each other, their Switzerland wedding portraits became a heartfelt reflection of love, anticipation, and the joy of finally beginning their forever.

Guest Arrival
As the couple returned to the chalet to prepare for their ceremony, their wedding guests slowly began to arrive, filling the crisp Alpine air with warm greetings and joyful laughter. One by one, friends and family gathered to write heartfelt congratulations on cards for the newlyweds before making their way into the chapel. The anticipation and excitement set the perfect tone, where every moment felt intimate, personal, and beautifully reflective of a truly memorable Switzerland wedding celebration.

The Chapel Ceremony
As guests settled into the chapel, the couple waited just outside, hands clasped in anticipation. When the doors opened and loved ones rose to their feet, they entered together and received a warm benediction from the local priest presiding over their chapel wedding. The ceremony blended heartfelt moments with cherished Swiss traditions—a ring exchange, touching words from family and friends, a traditional Swiss chorus by yodeler companions, and a sweet solo performance. Surrounded by the people who mattered most, they finally said “I do,” sealing their vows with a kiss to joyful applause—a beautiful highlight of their Swiss wedding in the Alps.

Wedding tunnel to the Apéro
As the couple made their way to the Apéro—Switzerland’s version of cocktail hour—they were welcomed with the beloved Swiss wedding tradition of Spalierenstehen. Forming a joyful passageway, guests stood side by side as the newlyweds emerged from the ceremony, offering heartfelt congratulations. This symbolic tunnel, a highlight of many Switzerland wedding celebrations, represents the challenges and triumphs the couple will navigate together, hand in hand, throughout their marriage.
Special Events
Among the celebrations were several cherished Swiss wedding traditions that brought both joy and heritage to the day. The bride’s father and a close friend performed a traditional Swiss Alphorn piece, filling the air with Alpine charm. Friends surprised the couple with a whimsical balloon sendoff, while a lively brass band ensemble added to the festivities—complete with the groom joining in to play and the bride delighting everyone with her spirited attempt at conducting. It was a vibrant and memorable highlight of their Switzerland wedding.

Reception details and Dinner
Following the Apéro and in keeping with Swiss wedding traditions, guests were gently dismissed while close family and friends were invited into the chalet for a cozy, candlelit dinner in the Chalet’s Restaurant . As the couple arrived for a private first look at the decor, their eyes lit up with joy and wonder, taking in the beautifully arranged tables and the intimate details that marked the perfect close to their unforgettable Switzerland wedding.
