3. Holding your wedding at a Resort or Hotel may be easier logistically when it’s a destination wedding, but it also provides less flexibility in a few areas.
- Resort wedding venues are by far easier to plan logistically. You have a controlled environment in case of bad weather, the food is consistent, and you don’t have to travel far because you can also book your stay at the same hotel.
- Holding your wedding at a resort or hotel also affords you the flexibility of a event manager that usually comes with your wedding package; so if you like to plan everything and just have someone execute your plans on the day of, then you have that at your disposal. You are also able to have more guests as many resort and hotels can accommodate a larger number of guests as compared to private, smaller estates.
- One of the cons though, of having your wedding at a resort or hotel, is that they don’t allow outside catering, and you may be required to only have wedding vendors that they have pre-approved to work at their venue.
Weather & Timing
Windward (east side) gets plenty of rain, that’s why it’s greener on that side of the island. South and west sides tend to be sunnier and drier. This matters more than most venue guides like to admit.

- If you are getting married during these times of the months, just know that the wettest places will be on the windward (East sides), South, and North East areas of the island. Also, if your venue is near a mountain, which many of them are, then you can expect there to be a chance of rain during these months. If during these months you are at a wedding venue near the beach, then you can also expect high winds.
- The hottest months and the most humid on Oahu, are considered to be the months of July – October. It has been known that in August and September, the ocean is literally warm like a bath. During these summer months, the mountains and grass will be brown or less green in certain places, especially on the north west and the west sides of the island.
